When people ask me what makes my approach as a doula different, one of the
thing I love sharing about is my training in Body Ready Method® or BRM.
The simplest way I explain it is this:
Body Ready Method is kind of like kinesiology for birth workers.
It helps birth professionals understand how the pregnant body moves, how muscles and joints work together, and how we can use movement, positioning, and breath to support a more comfortable pregnancy and labor experience.
As a doula, I don't just support one kind of person, and pregnancy & birth preparation isn't one-size-fits-all. My goal is always to help families feel informed, supported, and confident in their ability to give birth. Body Ready Method is one of the tools I use to help clients better connect with their bodies as they prepare for birth.

Helping You Feel More Comfortable in Your Pregnant Body
For as much as we know about pregnancy and birth, the truth is that there are still so many areas that are not scientifically quantifiable- there is some element of magic or mysticism involved. Many people love being pregnant, while others absolutely do not- and whether it's smooth and easy or something you're just pushing though- for most people pregnancy can get quite uncomfortable.
We all move through time and space, and we've all developed pattens in how we move or hold our body. This is especially true during pregnancy. Your body is constantly adapting. Your posture changes, your center of gravity shifts, your joints become more flexible, and muscles that have worked one way your whole life suddenly have a completely different job.
Sometimes pregnancy discomfort comes from simply needing more opportunities to move, stretch, rotate, and find comfortable positions. Sometimes pregnancy discomfort highlights the patterns that we've developed previously, and now those patterns need to be addressed.
Through the BRM approach, I help clients explore movements that support:
Awareness of how their body moves
Greater comfort during pregnancy
Improved mobility and access to range of motion
Better connection between breath and movement
More confidence in using different positions during labor
This isn't about "fixing" your body or preparing for birth by doing everything perfectly.
It's about learning how your body works and creating more options.
Combining Birth Physiology, Movement, and Breath
What I love about this approach is that it combines things we already know about birth:
The physiology of childbirth
The way our bodies naturally move
The importance of relaxation and breath
The role of positioning during labor
Our bodies are designed to move, and birth is not something that happens separately from our body. It is a full-body experience. Whether your goal is an unmedicated labor or you plan on utilizing pain management (epidural, iv pain meds, nitros), the BRM approach can still help improve overall birth satisfaction and outcomes.
As a doula, I love helping clients bridge the gap between knowing about birth and feeling connected to their own body during birth.
BRM Is Not a Replacement for Medical Care
I always want to be clear about my role as a doula.
While I have training in Body Ready Method, I am not a physical therapist, chiropractor, or medical provider. This approach does not replace individualized care from qualified healthcare professionals.
If someone is experiencing pain, injury, pelvic floor concerns, or movement limitations that require specialized care, I will always encourage them to seek support from the appropriate provider, such as a pelvic floor physical therapist.
Body Ready Method gives me another way to support my clients within my role as a doula. It helps me understand movement patterns, offer comfort measures, and provide additional tools for pregnancy and labor preparation.
